It has been a couple months less then a year since my last post and a lot has happened since then! So bare with me this might be a long one! The reason for my lack of posting is pretty simple yet complicated last winter was hard- dealing with such a major change in lifestyle, and all of the problems with the water and the SNOW ...the seriously never ending snow- I wasn't in a very good head space. I had written a post and when I went to post it it was very negative and that's not what I am about, and don't get me wrong I was still a happy person I just needed to make some changes. Since then I have made changes in my life and on the plus side the snow melted so that was extra nice. I was originally going to write about my whole year in this one post, however so much has happened I'll probably just end up going on and on. Instead I'm going to update you on my SUMMER yay!! Looking at all my spring and summer pictures is making me super excited for spring, so let's get started:
The Canadian Geese have taken over the backyard! They are not only eating all of the green stuff that is popping up and pooping everywhere, but they are mean! At this point in the spring when I was finally feeling like I needed to get stuff done outsde those damn birds won't let me! They were almost as much of a pain as the SNOW!
This is probably one of the worst pictures of me ever! ( I ran my ass off for 8 plus hours prior to this picture, and I swear it's a shadow making my teeth look strange!) And I hate that I'm going to post it... However this picture represents two things. One I got to meet Monte!!!! And two (probably the more important part of this picture) I started a new job! I am now a bartender at one of the top restaurants in Sault Ste. Marie, and I am 110% happier then I was with my previous job. Seriously respect resturant management- they generally work harder then you can imagine, get paid less then you'd believe, and deal with the drama of teenagers- or at least the drama of people who act like teenagers. P.S that actually his dinner.... Cheeseburger with fries incase you were wondering
So this next picture is probably a sign that I watch too many crime shows on tv... How about you? Does that not look like a creepy dead body hiding spot? So at this point in the year a good majority of the snow was gone and I had started to get the backyard cleaned up when I came across this death hole! Well of course I freaked out and ran as far as I could away from the creepy hole, however as it turns out it is only pieces of scraps from the building of the house piled up to look like a secret death hole! Even looking at this picture again freeks me out, but trust me I checked it out it really is just siding sitting on the "holeless" ground
Coming up there are going to be lots of pictures of flowers! Yay! So let's begin, the snow is finally gone and this picture was taken May 3rd 2015. At this point I was so excited all the snow was completely gone and the green was starting to show. This also means I had survived my first winter in Goulias River!!!
May 3rd was also when I found the first flower of the year... Definitely making me excited for spring to come this year!
Oh look we found a salamander! Did you know they hang out under rocks and then wiggle like snakes? Well they do and it's terrifying ... And now we move on..
Oh hey Look fish! I caught two of those and Marc and Greg got the rest. That morning started earlier then I usually go to sleep (I'm exaggerating but you get it) . Did you know that it is freezing at 4 am in May? Well it is! At least that morning was, also fishing in the fog is interesting . It almost makes you feel like you're seeing things or at least you're hoping that spider crawling across the water at top speeds is something your brain is making up.
This moose almost broke my collar bone- not because it ran across the road but because Marc was driving and he needed me to see the moose. The bruse was totally worth seeing this guy up close !
I'm on a beach!! Well kinda this is our attempt at a sand beach from taking sand out of the garden pit. A good portion of the sand (I totally originally wrote snow instead of sand... Can you tell I'm writing this on one of the coldest days of the year?) has already washed away but I'm not giving up! There will be a sand beach here!
Upstairs has had a couple minor changes, I hung curtains over each of the windows... And of course Toby supervised.
In June I was able to visit Mississauga. I got to spend time with my niece and my puppy sister.
And then I had the chance to experience my first northern Ontario stag and doe, and of corurse I needed to bring a couple of my southern Ontario friends with me . I won't go into details but it was defiantly interesting and probably or at least hopefully a once and a life time experience .
Yay!! Finally we no longer have lake water running in our taps. Last summer we built a well, well we didn't build it the funny well guy did but we sure did pay for it! For about two weeks this lovely truck hung out in the back yard, and for about four days it dug over two hundred feet into the ground looking for water. Poor Marc was basically watching hundred dollar bills fly out of the ground. However now about six months later we have safe drinking water!! Oh and I don't have to run down to the pump house to have running water nightly so that's awesome !
And now for some pretty flowers... Looking forward to summer? Because I sure am!
I grew this pepper! Seriously it was the best tasting pepper ever
More of our flowers...
Omg! It was so hot over the summer, as I sit here wrapped in blankets I can't believe I ever complained about being hot but wow it gets warm here in the summer. I can't even believe how warm it gets on days that there is no wind. The lake would be still as glass some days, it was defiantly a contrast to the windy snowy icey days of winter.
The greatest idea I came up with all summer was seriously putting my chair in the lake and sitting there loving the cool water and warm sun drinking yummy sangria!
Pretty sunset
I also grew these delicious peas and onion!
